Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter V Michael T. Lyons Jr. (a.k.a. Lyons) was born in Miami, FL, USA. He was the son of Cynthia McCarthy-Lyons and Michael Lyons Sr. V At five years old he expresses an interest in playing the violin. V Three years later, after forgetting all about it, he receives the violin. But the violin is the furthest thing from his mind. He is now playing Pop Warner Football. It’s also a bit embarrassing. V At 15 he signs himself up for piano lessons. He’s surprised to see he’s really enjoying it. He’s told he can no longer practice on the family piano. Hasta la vista piano. V He then buys a Spanish guitar. He learns some chords. He learns a few songs. He has fun picking the guitar. V Lyons proceeds to the electric guitar. Now he’s hooked. This is more like it! He plays 3 to 4 times a week. He’s reasonably persistent. V Lyons, with a friend from the University of Miami, forms "Gunnar's Revenge". The band plays at a few parties, clubs and a skateboard ramp. He continues writing his own songs. V After the graduation of his friend, the other co-founder of the band, “Gunnar's Revenge” sadly goes to Valhalla. V Lyons is not deterred. He sits in with numerous bands. V Lyons takes advantage of this phase and focuses on recording some of his own songs. He teams up with producer Tom Manos. They begin to lay down the tracks for Lyons' debut album. V He forms Walrus; a rock n' roll cover band. They play at local bars and events. V Lyons works on his stage presence. The crowd is brought to its feet. Lyons receives a standing ovation. V Different goals and dreams lead to the disintegration of the band. "Walrus" dies. V Lyons moves on. He completes his album "Thank God for Music". V Lyons' single entitled "Going Blind" reaches radio stations nationally. V His debut concert is spectacular. With him on stage are: Bobby Thomas Jr. – drums Felix Pastorius – bass George Rizov – keys Dorian Vaz - rhythm guitar Christina D. Villaverde - back up vocals V He performs at special events. Coconut Grove Banyan Festival Fund raiser for Hepatitis Taste of the Grove Festival Bayside Fête de la Musique & more … V He makes his first international appearance in Villajoyosa, Spain. This is followed by an appearance in Amsterdam, Holland/The Netherlands. V And the music goes on …
